Ding, dong, the wicked witch is dead!

Just in case anybody missed the news, John Ashcroft's resignation has officially been accepted. He exits with a Mission Accomplished-style claim:

“The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved."

Oh, right then. All goodness and light going forward!
