It turns out that old consumer electronics are becoming the new hazardous waste, and companies like cell phone providers who don't tell you to recycle the batteries in your old unit may be largely to blame. So give your old computer away, sell your outdated iPod, or recycle your cell phone, but please don't throw them in the trash!
